Kershaw to DL with lower back tightness

LOS ANGELES (AP) The Dodgers are bracing for the worst after Clayton Kershaw's latest back injury.

Manager Dave Roberts said the All-Star ace was headed to the 10-day disabled list after Kershaw left 21 pitches into his start on Sunday because of right low back tightness.

"Just felt a little something in my back that wasn't normal," a subdued Kershaw said.


Strasburg exits with slight forearm ache

PHOENIX (AP) Stephen Strasburg says he hasn't felt right since the All-Star break and decided after two innings in Arizona to call it a day.

"The stuff was good but it's still kind of like lingering," he said, "and I just want to nip it in the bud now, hopefully not miss any time and try and be smart about it."


Kluber Ks 14, Tribe finish sweep of Jays

CLEVELAND (AP) Corey Kluber's stiff neck cleared up a day too soon for the Toronto Blue Jays.

Angels edge Red Sox on Valbuena's HR

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) The Los Angeles Angels made their five hits count Sunday.

Luis Valbuena hit a tiebreaking solo home run in the seventh inning, Mike Trout and Andrelton Simmons also homered and the Angels beat the Boston Red Sox 3-2.


Rockies roll to 13-3 win over Pirates

DENVER (AP) A two-week stretch between starts didn't seem to bother rookie left-hander Kyle Freeland.

Freeland pitched six strong innings in his first start since taking a no-hitter into the ninth the day before the All-Star break, and the Colorado Rockies beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 13-3 on Sunday.
